FIM World Superbike - Ayrton Badovini’s fine performance in WSBK Evo
The Misano races, during the weekend of 20 to 22 June, marked Superbike mid-season and allowed Tom Sykes to consolidate his FIM World Superbike championship lead thanks to two wins in the two races. In the weekend overall standings, he was followed by Sylvain Guintoli and Loris Baz. Motul also partnered technically two teams which bore its colours in Evo category: Bimota Alstare whose motorcycles are still awaiting approval, and Morillas Kawasaki.
For this second team, Jeremy Guarnoni finished fourth of his category in race one, falling in the second, meaning he keeps fourth place in the provisional standings. For Bimota Alstare, Ayrton Badovini came virtually second of the two races in Evo category.
In Superstock 1000, of which it was the fourth round of the season, Lorenzo Salvadori took his first win of the year, whereas the red flag fell following Frederico Sandi’s fall and caused the race to stop at the eleventh lap instead of the 15 scheduled. David McFadden, entered by Morillas Kawasaki, which is supported by Motul also in this category, secured a solid fifth place allowing him to move up in the provisional standings just one tiny point off Lussiana and Valk.
The weekend was rich in events of all kinds and also saw the holding of a round of the Pata European Junior Cup Honda, where Motul is the lubricant partner for the second consecutive year. Augusto Fernandez strengthened his position of leader in the provisional standings by winning in the 10 lap race for the third time this year.
