FIM MX GP World Championship – Strijbos on the championship podium!
For Rockstar Energy Suzuki, the season finished beautifully in Mexico, in front of 30,000 spectators and on a circuit at an altitude of 1800 metres requiring special adaptation of the riders and machines. Kevin Strijbos confirmed his position among the best by securing second and third place in the two MXGP races. He thus closes his best season, with a magnificent third place in the championship after having bagged one win, three pole positions and seven podiums.
‘The season has been hard because of my pre-season injury, but in the second half I was better and I’m pleased with that,’ concluded the young rider. His team-mate, Clément Desalle, chose to have his wrist injury operated and missed the last three rounds but nevertheless finished in fourth place.
Team Suzuki was a bit less lucky in MX2, even if its two riders, Glenn Coldenhoff and Jeremy Seewer both finished in the top ten. Among the Motul riders, Honda Gariboldi’s Tim Gajser, was the most brilliant of all: after a win in race two, he confirmed his fifth place in the championship.
For KTM Standing Construct, Valentin Guillod, third in Mexico, clinched seventh place in the championship.
