MCA Rewind - RACE DAY AT THE KALLANG
2006 Yamaha Cub Prix Race (Round 1) 25-26 March
Two days of racing action in the Lion City… could anyone ask for more?
National Stadium Kallang Carpark C was packed with excitement in March as racers and their supporters jammed the pens filled with screaming bikes prepped for high-speed action. Spectators gathered and hung around the booths on both days and even took to the second level of the stadium on Sunday to watch the final day race action.
The weather for both days were typically hot, punctured by short showers in the late afternoon which saw some riders taking to the ground with their bikes, much to the excited cheering of the crowds.
Riders fought for top honors on Sunday to be crowned champions in their respective categories – Novice and Expert racers for the Super Motard, Cub-Prix 4-Stroke and Cub-Prix 2-Stroke class.
Winners for each class bathed in glory carrying the checkered flag around the track and performing burnouts on their race bikes.
The most exciting races of the day must be the Super Motard Expert Class, which saw two Husqvarna riders battling it out for 1st and 2nd place through the entire race. Victory finally went to seasoned Australian rider Chas who wowed the crowd on his victory lap with wheelies at even section of the racetrack.
