Pan Delta China Superbike Series – MOTUL’s Dan Kruger on Podium.
After a challenging outing to the Isle of Man in June, Dan Kruger was back to circuit racing in China at the Pan Delta China Superbike series. It was a typical summer day in Zhuhai with a mix of rain and sun, making it extremely hot and humid. It would be the first time Kruger would ride his 2014 Kawasaki ZX-10, and saw him take part in a 2-day test before going immediately into qualifying and back-to-back races.
Kruger topped practice and went on to qualify in 3rd. Race 1 saw Australian Superbike regular Benjamin Burke taking the win over Yes Yamaha rider Zhao. Kruger unfortunately was a little too far behind to contest for a win and had to settle for a steady 3rd – but yet another podium. The 2nd race was a much better fight though, as Kruger’s new launch control was working great and the three riders swapped the lead and kept in close proximity for the first half of the race.
On the last lap, Zhao and Ben came together and resulted in the former crashing out. This handed the win to Ben, while Kruger finished a-not-too-distant 2nd. Kruger was later penalised 30 seconds for a jump start which dropped him down to 3rd but with Zhao crashing out, Kruger still found himself back in the Championship hunt.
The next round of the Pan Delta China Superbike will be held on 21 September.
